Drainage and THERMAL EFFICIENCY

DRAINAGE

Drainage affects the size and design of bi-fold doors.

There are a number of options for drainage; standard cill, rebated bottom frame, gravel traps, linear drains to name a few, so make sure that you include this in the discussions with all of the trades involved with the supply and installation of your bi-fold doors as the drainage will affect the size and design of the doors.

THERMAL EFFICIENCY

All doors must have a minimum U value of 1.8 to meet the standards required by building regulations.  Ask your supplier for proof of performance before committing to ordering your bi-fold doors.  If you live in an area that suffers from extreme weather or if you’re very environmentally conscious, a U value of less than 1.8 can be achieved with some high performance aluminium systems that incorporate triple glazing.
