BUILDING REGULATIONS
Generally building regulations aren’t needed for replacing doors.
You must use a Certass/Fensa registered company to supply and fit your doors if you do need a building regulations certificate. If your new bi-fold doors are part of a larger project such as an extension, and you are arranging your own fitting, your builder or local building inspector will cover the doors as part of the overall certification.
PREPARATION
Careful preparation will ensure your bi-fold doors are perfect for your home.
To ensure that the installation runs as smoothly as your new bi-fold doors, make sure that you, your supplier and the installer, if different, are all talking together! The size of the opening you have for your bi-fold doors will not be the size of the manufactured doors, as space is needed to manoeuvre the doors into final position. The threshold/drainage arrangement will also affect the manufacturing height of the doors. Bi-fold doors are made to measure and it can be very expensive if you have to order them twice through a lack of understanding or communication.
